April 26, 2008 – Tour de Georgia – Watch as the top bicyclists from around the world race to the finish atop Brasstown Bald, the highest peak in the state. A warm-up race for the Tour de France.
May 24 – September 6, 2008 – Every Saturday Evening , free outdoor concerts on the Town Square in Hiawassee. Wide variety of music. Bring a chair or blanket for a good old-fashioned family evening in the park.

June 6-8, 2008 – County Wide Garage Sale – From one end of the county to the other, the Towns County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring this second annual event all along 30 miles of Highway 76 ( Main Street). Locals bring their treasures to the highway. www.mountaintopga.com.
